Instituted 18 October 1861 by Kaiser Wilhelm I. (1867 1918 issue). Constructed of gilded silver with multi coloured enamels, consisting of a Cross Patte with white enameled arms outlined with gilt, the obverse with a central gilt crown medallion, within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt inscription of GOTT MIT UNS (GOD IS WITH US) with arabesques, the reverse with a central raised
