the obverse bears the inscription “STRASSBURG” on a pebbled background

stated that Johnston "took off before dawn to carry out an operational flight over the sea

until the spring of 1939

Constructed of magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a HJ member clutching a standard against a backdrop with a radiant sun, above an inscription of FR DES FHRERS JUGEND (FOR THE FHRERS YOUTH) and a HJ insignia, overlaying a German national eagle, the reverse with horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 31 mm (w) x 52 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
