I believe (please correct me if I'm wrong) it to be a deer spotted cowrie, from the family of marine gastropod mollusks in the family Cypraeidae. It's mounted in 9 karat gold with pear teardrop shaped head and split shoulder shank; dating from the turn of the 20th century.
